Scenes of the Clyde and Loch Lomond are included in an art auction in Glasgow next week.
The latest Scottish contemporary art auction by McTear’s includes spectacular paintings by Peter Howson, John Bellany and Herbert Whone, as well as Jolomo, Donald McIntyre and Victoria Crowe, among others.
View Of Ben Lomond is by Gregor Ian Smith (1907-1985), who was born and raised in Helensburgh, later living in Glen Fruin – several of his works are in the Anderson Trust collection.
Oil on board, its image size is 30cm x 39cm and it has an estimate of £100 to £200.
Highland Landscape is also an oil by Smith and has the same estimate, with an image size of 41cm x 51cm.
Carvoeiro, Algarve is by Joyce Borland, who lives in Cardross. Oil on canvas, it has an image size of 51cm x 61cm and an estimate of £200 to £400.
James Spence RGI RSW was also a Cardross resident. Amber Light, The Hebrides, is a watercolour with an image size of 71cm x 110cm and an estimate of £200 to £400.
James Watt RGI was born in Port Glasgow and specialised in shipping, shipbuilding and the Clyde.
Awaiting Passage is oil on canvas, 46cm x 102cm and has an estimate of £400 to £600.
And Bishop’s Seat is 18cm x 31cm, oil on board, with an estimate of £100 to £150.
There are four works in the auction by Christine L McArthur RGI RSW formerly lived in Cove.
All are mixed media on paper, with estimates of £100 to £150.
Full Beam is an oil on canvas painting, image size 20cm x 20cm by Kirsty Wither, a former pupil of Lomond School in Helensburgh. It has an estimate of £150 to £250.
Viewing is open to the public from Monday 1May at 12pm and bidding will be available in the room, by commission, telephone and online.
