The Jamestown Arts Center (JAC) is proud to announce the launch of its new FlatFile program, designed to extend the life of curated JAC exhibitions by offering a selection of original artworks and limited-edition prints for sale at accessible prices. The FlatFile collection features 2-dimensional works on paper by 18 artists who have recently exhibited at JAC, all priced between $75 and $800. “FlatFile” refers to the display cabinet where the artwork is kept at the JAC, but the collection can also be browsed and purchased online.
“For years the JAC has been looking for new ways to spotlight and support our talented community of artists even after an exhibition ends,” said Karen Conway, JAC Exhibitions Director. “The FlatFile store allows us to do more for artists’ careers and to bring accessible art into our community for new and established collectors alike.”
Created to support a broad range of artists in tandem with JAC exhibitions, the FlatFile program presents an ever-changing collection of original drawings, prints, and mixed-media artworks. The current selection features work by artists who have exhibited at JAC within the past two years, ensuring that the FlatFile remains timely and reflective of JAC’s curatorial vision.
The first round of FlatFile artists features: Lynne Allen, David Barnes, Andre Lee Bassuet, Alyn Carlson, Bob Dilworth, Peter Flood, Karin Gielen, Brooke Erin Goldstein, Mary Janacek, Peter Marcus, Anna McNeary, Alicia Renadette, Yohanna M. Roa, Christopher T. Terry, Kristen Tordella-Williams, Coral Woodbury, Josy Wright, and Jo Yarrington.
Michael Dym, member of the JAC Exhibition Committee and owner of Vallot Auctioneers, initially proposed the idea of a flat file for the JAC. “The one thing the JAC didn’t have was a store like most institutional art spaces… A place for collectors to support and engage with the best of the best of artist’s the JAC has shown,” explains Dym. “The JAC FlatFile store was designed with the goal of offering an irresistible selection of art by very accomplished artists and at affordable prices. It’s an exciting new venture at the JAC, and I can’t imagine those drawers are going to stay full for long.”
