Manistee County’s top spots for adventure, relaxation, alfresco dining

When you’re hungry in Manistee and the weather is too nice to stay indoors — but River Street has turned into a parallel parking test — try dining outside.

Two such options in Manistee are The Outsider and Lake Gulls Concessions and Rentals.

Since its inception in 2023, The Outsider’s owners have encouraged patrons to eat outside — either at the patio or picnicking at one of several scenic spots in Manistee which are displayed on a large map wall at the restaurant.

The restaurant proclaims that it has the “best burgers in Manistee” and has an award-winning smash burger and a pinball arcade.

The Outsider is located at 457 River St. More information is available on The Outsider’s website, outsidermanistee.com.

The concession stand is especially known for its monthly Lobster Mania days featuring lobster rolls and other meals that include lobster.

On non-lobster-themed days, the menu often includes a variety of sandwiches, wraps, salads, cold drinks, and vegan and vegetarian options.

Lake Gulls’ season goes from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. More details on the menu and rental items are available on Lake Gulls’ Facebook page, facebook.com/lakegulls5thave.
