Summer Spot was launched last year as a seasonal counterpart to The Station’s long-running winter exhibition A Spot on the Wall and has quickly become a popular addition to Richmond’s cultural calendar.
The exhibition will once again offer amateur, emerging and established artists the opportunity to display and sell work in a professional gallery setting during one of The Station’s busiest visitor periods.
Unlike traditional curated exhibitions, Summer Spot operates through a direct booking system, allowing artists to secure a space independently.
Participants can book either a hanging space for a single artwork or a cabinet for non-hanging pieces, although organisers say places are limited because of the popularity of the exhibition and available gallery space.
Sarah Iveson, events and gallery manager at the trust, said: “Summer Spot has quickly become one of our most exciting exhibitions to deliver.
“It offers artists a fantastic opportunity to showcase their work in a vibrant, high-footfall gallery space, while also giving visitors the chance to experience a constantly evolving display of original artwork.
“We’re thrilled to be bringing it back for 2026 and look forward to welcoming both new and returning artists to take part.”
Gemma Lord, chief executive of the trust, said the exhibition reflected The Station’s commitment to supporting creativity and accessible cultural experiences.
She said: “The Station exists to support creativity and provide accessible cultural experiences for our community, and Summer Spot embodies that perfectly.
“It not only creates valuable opportunities for artists at all stages of their careers, but also enhances the experience for our visitors, offering something fresh, engaging and inspiring throughout the summer.”
Artwork displayed during the exhibition will be available to buy, with sold pieces replaced throughout the month to create an evolving display for visitors.
A preview evening for participating artists and guests will take place on Thursday, June 4.
Booking fees are £50 for a hanging spot and £75 for a cabinet space.
Artists wishing to take part are being encouraged to apply early, with bookings closing at noon on Wednesday, May 13.
