SCAD students, alumni transform Tybee Island shoreline for a one-day-only sculpture gallery

TYBEE ISLAND, Ga. (WTOC) – If you go to the beach on Tybee Island Friday, you might see some works of art.

We’re talking about the SCAD Sand Arts Festival!

Everyone’s invited to come out for this free event.

The arts festival is going on from 10:00 a.m. Friday morning to 5:00 p.m. Friday night at South Beach Pier and Pavilion.

“When the beach is your backyard, you build bigger dreams,” wrote SCAD in an Instagram post.

SCAD students and alumni will take to Tybee to transform the shoreline into a dazzling one-day-only sculpture gallery.

They will compete in many categories such as Sandcastle, Sand Relief, Air, Sand Jam, and SCAD Spirit.

Our Jamie Ertle will be live on Tybee Friday afternoon on THE News to look at some of the art.
