The image of a young African child has adorned Barton Street opposite the Reel Cinema and Dahna Lounge since 2017.
It was a painted by artist Dale Grimshaw, who was born in Accrington and grew up in Blackburn.
This week, artists have been busy replacing the image with a new colourful piece of artwork ahead of the National Festival of Making, which takes place over the weekend.
A section of the car park has also been cordoned off as large planters were also placed next to the stunning painting.

Since 2016, Blackburn has been home to a number of paintings across the town centre which adorn the side of buildings, including the Bar Ibiza, just around the corner from Barton Street.
The street art extravaganza featured large-scale paintings and aimed to breathe life into forgotten walls across Blackburn.
The National Festival of Making takes place on Saturday and Sunday (July 5 and 6), with exhibitions extended after the event.
Now in its ninth year, the festival, supported by Blackburn with Darwen Council, takes over Blackburn town centre with mainly free large-scale artworks and performances.
It will also feature a special guest appearance from George Clarke – architect, television presenter, lecturer and writer, best known for his work on Channel 4’s The Home Show and George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces.
