Why the Swarovski museum is one of Europe’s best modern-art experiences | The Canberra Times

Swarovski Kristallwelten (Swarovski Crystal Worlds), near Innsbruck, is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. The Swarovski brand itself is a century older, established in 1895 by Daniel Swarovski, who invented a machine that could cut crystals quickly and effectively, enabling mass production. Even before the snow-room, I’m enchanted. It’s the cusp of summer, and we wander Kristallwelten’s seven hectares of grounds, where paths wind around ornamental pools, lush lawns and alpine flower gardens, admiring the sculptures and installations and the cinematic backdrop of the Alps.
