Clevedon Art Club’s 67th Open Exhibition will open to the public from Saturday, August 16 to Sunday, August 24 at the Science Atrium in Clevedon School.
The club, now boasting 300 members, anticipates showcasing more than 320 diverse artworks.
Pieces will come from professional artists, Royal West of England Academy members, and the club’s own artists.
For the first time, Clevedon’s primary school children have been invited to contribute A5 pictures for display.
The exhibition, which began in 1957 at the Walton Park Hotel with 100 pieces, has grown significantly in size and scope.
Last year, the club donated £2,000 to Clevedon School for art materials and £1,800 to the children’s charity, Springboard.
This year, the club hopes to surpass these donations, with funds going to Supershoes, a charity providing support and customised shoes to children receiving treatment or palliative care for cancer.
Weston Hospice will be providing hospitality for the event.
Throughout July, anyone can submit entry forms for the Open Exhibition.
Artworks in any medium, including 3D works but excluding photographs, are welcome.
The deadline for submissions is the end of July.
Last year, 550 entries were received, with about 300 being selected by three independent selectors.
This year, the selectors will include a figurative artist, an abstract artist, and a curator or art world professional.
Four prizes, each worth up to £300, will be awarded for the best in show.
The exhibition will be open daily from 10.30am to 4pm.
Most of the artworks will be available for purchase, with the club urging visitors to arrive early.
