Local students and a local artist have given Ashton-under-Lyne a vibrant transformation.
Students from St Damian’s RC College and Great Academy Ashton have created a new, distinctive display of artwork that customers can enjoy.
The art pieces tell a story of what the area means to each person and feature local landmarks to bring the pieces to life.
Mossley-based artist Chris Cyprus led the project as part of ‘Routes to Roots: a platform for art’ and guided the students to channel their talent and ideas into the wonderful pieces.
Ashton-under-Lyne is the second station to receive funding for Routes to Roots from the Transpennine Route Upgrade’s First and Last Mile scheme, following Greenfield.
The project aims to improve the entire journey experience, including stations and how they can leave a long-lasting impression on passengers.
