English artist Tracey Emin is set to bring her biggest ever exhibition to the Tate Modern in London next year.
The career-ranging exhibition, titled A Second Life, is set to begin at the Tate Modern on February 26th, 2026, and will run in London until August 31st.
According to The Guardian, A Second Life will feature her controversial Turner Prize-nominated artwork, My Bed, as well as a number of never-before-seen pieces produced by Emin.
Emin said of the exhibition: “I’m very excited about having a show at Tate Modern. For me it’s one of the greatest international contemporary art museums in the world and it’s here in London. I feel this show … will be a benchmark for me. A moment in my life when I look back and go forward. A true celebration of living.”
The title of the exhibition is a reference to Emin’s battle with an aggressive form of bladder cancer in 2020. Last year, she confirmed she was in remission and said it “changed everything for me“, which is reflected in her new works.
Meanwhile, the Tate describes A Second Life as an exhibition that demonstrates “her uncompromising confessional approach to sharing experiences of love, trauma and personal growth”. It will also tackle Emin’s experiences of sexual assault and abortion.
At a celebration for the Tate Modern turning 25 earlier this year, Emin said: “I am really happy that I didn’t die and I am around to see this exhibition. I was there at the opening of the Tate Modern in 2000 – and at the time it felt like the most exciting thing that could ever possibly happen to London. You judge a city by its art.”
